The detail
A round-faced cat whose folded ears come from a single gene first seen in a Scottish barn cat in 1961. That same gene affects cartilage throughout the body, which is the fact every buyer should weigh before the look.
What to weigh
Every folded-ear cat carries the gene that causes osteochondrodysplasia, a lifelong cartilage and bone disorder that can bring painful, stiff joints. Some countries and registries restrict breeding it.
