The detail

A small, naturally gaited horse descended from Spanish stock in the Caribbean and Colombia, famous for its fast, even four-beat gait. Paso Finos are energetic, proud and sensitive, with brío that suits confident riders.

What to weigh

A Paso Fino’s energy can be too much for a nervous rider. The breed has a higher rate of degenerative suspensory ligament desmitis (DSLD), a painful, progressive condition.
