The detail
An old Japanese breed with a short, kinked pom-pom tail caused by a recessive gene. It is lively, talkative and sociable, and unlike the Manx, the bobtail gene is not linked to spinal defects.
What to weigh
A Japanese Bobtail is active and talkative and gets bored alone. Its tail is fragile to handle; never pull or straighten it.
