The detail
Hereford hogs were developed in the US Midwest in the 1920s and are red with a white face, like Hereford cattle. They are docile, hardy and do well on pasture, and are popular in youth shows.
What to weigh
Hereford hogs are less common, so finding good breeding stock can take time. They grow slower than commercial breeds.
