The detail
A small companion breed from Madagascar, the Coton is named for its soft, cotton-like coat. Happy, playful and gentle, it bonds closely with its family and adapts to most homes, but it dislikes being alone and its coat mats without regular care.
What to weigh
Cotons can develop separation anxiety and bark when left alone. The coat mats quickly without regular brushing, especially during the adolescent coat change.
