The detail
An Italian mastiff bred to guard property and hunt large game, the Cane Corso is powerful, athletic and deeply protective. With its own family it is loyal and calm, but it needs expert training, strict socialization and a confident owner.
What to weigh
A Corso is a true guardian: wary of strangers, strong and capable of serious harm if poorly raised. Training and socialization are lifelong, and insurers, landlords and some cities restrict the breed.
