The detail
A Flemish farm dog bred to drive cattle, pull carts and guard property, the Bouvier is a large, rugged dog with a shaggy coat and beard. Calm, loyal and protective, it needs an experienced owner, early training and a lot of grooming.
What to weigh
Bouviers are strong-willed and protective, so early socialization and training are essential. The coat needs regular brushing and trimming, and the beard carries water and mud.
