The detail
Plecos are armored suckermouth catfish from South America, sold for algae control. Species vary enormously: the bristlenose stays small, while the common pleco can grow to well over a foot and outgrow most home tanks.
- Housing
- 30+ gal small species, much more large
- Tank size
- 3 out of 5 (Species-dependent)
What to weigh
Common plecos often outgrow tanks and produce a lot of waste. Knowing the exact species, often by L-number, matters.
