The detail
Miniature Herefords are Herefords selected for a small frame, developed from 1970s lines in Texas. They keep the breed's red body, white face and calm temperament at a size that fits a few acres and gives a family-sized beef carcass.
What to weigh
They share the Hereford risks of pinkeye and cancer eye on white faces, and small lines can run fat on rich pasture. Make sure the size you want is proven in the parents, not just promised.
