The detail
Goldfish were domesticated in China from wild carp over a thousand years ago and now come in dozens of varieties. They are hardy and long-lived, but they grow large and produce a lot of waste, so the tank or pond matters more than people think.

What to weigh
Goldfish outgrow bowls and small tanks quickly and need strong filtration. Fancy varieties are more prone to swim bladder problems.
