The detail
Golden pheasants come from the mountains of western China, and males have bright gold, red and orange plumage. They are kept as ornamental aviary birds, and are hardy but shy, with males reaching full color in their second year.
What to weigh
Golden pheasants need planted, covered aviaries. They hybridize with Lady Amherst's pheasants, so ask for pure stock.
