The detail
Barnevelders come from the Barneveld region of the Netherlands and are known for dark brown eggs and double-laced feathers. They are calm, cold-hardy and good foragers, and a good choice for colorful, quiet flocks.
What to weigh
Barnevelders lay fewer eggs than production breeds. Egg color varies by line, and they can be slow to mature.
