The detail

Rambouillets were developed in France from Spanish Merinos at the royal Rambouillet estate starting in 1786. They are larger than most Merinos and are the backbone of many western US range flocks for wool and meat.

Temperament
Calm, flocking
Best fit
Range flocks, fine wool
Docility
4 out of 5 (Strong flock instinct)
Hardiness
4 out of 5 (Range hardy)

What to weigh

Fine fleece needs yearly shearing and flystrike management. Lambs grow slower than meat-breed crosses.
