The detail
Lowlines are small Angus cattle, bred from a closed research herd at Trangie in New South Wales, Australia. Owners get a polled, calm, black or red beef animal about half the size of a standard cow, suited to small acreage and grass-fed beef.

What to weigh
Carcasses are small, so a Lowline gives far less beef than a standard steer. Many animals sold as Lowline are crosses; registry papers and parent heights tell you what you are getting.
