The detail
Guppies are small livebearers from northeastern South America and the Caribbean, bred in countless colors and tail shapes. They are lively and easy, but they breed constantly, so a small group quickly becomes a large one.
- Best fit
- First fish, planted tanks
- Hardiness
- 3 out of 5 (Hardy, fancy lines less so)
What to weigh
Guppies breed constantly, so you need a plan for fry. Heavily line-bred fancy guppies can be less hardy.
