From Palomacy Pigeon & Dove Adoptions
We think dear Hippo is a Carneau pigeon -- one of the "utility" pigeons, originally bred for meat but now mostly used for show. Hippo was lost or abandoned and suffered severe injuries from a predator attack before being rescued by a kind person. We're getting Hippo the best of care and pulling for a full recovery. We'll post updates here as Hippo's condition continues to change -- hopefully for the better! Please apply to adopt http://www.pigeonrescue.org/birds/apply-to-foster-or-adopt/
In the rescue's own words, as they published it.
