From For The Love of Birds

Hatch Date: Approx. 1991 We would like to introduce you to Bumber. Bumber is an estimated 35-year-old, DNA-tested male Orange-winged Amazon. His story is heartbreaking, but his future has the potential to be beautiful Bumber came to us after spending approximately 25 years locked inside an inadequate cage. Bumber has been simply existing with no true quality of life. He has endured severe neglect and has never been allowed to experience the love, freedom, and trust that every companion bird deserves. Today, Bumber is learning something completely new to him: how to trust❤️ Bumber’s foster is taking things slowly, allowing him to set the pace, and so far, he is making amazing progress. Those soulful eyes are always watching, observing, learning, and quietly taking in everything he is being taught. Bumber has recently begun allowing gentle head scratches! This seemingly small milestone is actually enormous for a soul who has spent so much of his life void of physical affection and contact. However, Bumber is still very fearful. He is not yet brave enough to leave his new and spacious housing. The door is open, and the opportunity to stretch his wings is right there waiting for him…
