From Adams County Animal Shelter
Hamsters are adorable little creatures who can be entertaining and low maintenance pets. They are most active at night, so if you are a night owl, you might be a perfect match! Hamsters can be skittish and fragile due to their small size, and would do best as a pet for kids over 8 who are skilled with gentle handling. Hamsters often do well solo, and are fairly independent, making them a great choice for those with a busy schedule and less time to spend handling and interacting with their pet. Despite being lower maintenance, hamsters thrive with plenty of activities and enrichment in their environment. They can live about 2 years with proper care.
