Zane is a 4-year-old Black and Tan Chihuahua mix weighing 13 pounds, and he's looking for a family that understands that not every dog wears his heart on his sleeve. Zane came to Canine Castaways after being surrendered alongside his friend Kirby when their owner felt they no longer had time for them. While Kirby greets the world like a long-lost friend, Zane takes a different approach. Zane prefers to watch first and decide later. New people, new dogs, and new situations can make him a little nervous. He isn't the type to rush into a friendship. Instead, he likes to take his time, assess the situation, and make sure everything feels safe before letting his guard down. But once Zane decides you're a friend, you'll start to see his playful side emerge…

In the rescue's own words, as they published it.
