This dog is available to meet by appointment only. Rebel is a 5-year-old, 9-pound Papillon mix who can be a very affectionate, cuddly little dog with people he trusts. He enjoys petting and belly rubs on his terms and likes staying close to his person. He can be selective about other dogs, but has done well in playgroups with several dogs at the shelter. Rebel can be frightened by some types of handling and has a history of biting when he feels uncomfortable, particularly during leashing and grooming. He will need an adult-only home with an experienced adopter who understands his signals, respects his boundaries, and is prepared to move at his pace. Rebel's long coat requires regular grooming, which can be challenging for him. His adopter will need patience and perseverance to help him develop a safe, manageable grooming routine. Rebel isn't a dog for everyone, but for the right person, he has a sweet and affectionate side to offer. He is looking for someone who will take the time to understand him and build his trust.
