From Ventura County Animal Regulation

Max is feeling stressed in the shelter. He takes treats nicely from volunteers but is nervous about handling, and has severe dermatitis that may be uncomfortable. If you have a heart for older shepherds, Max could really use your help! This senior dog has experienced several falls while in shelter care, including during volunteer outings and playgroup. A recent veterinary exam could not determine the cause, and limited activity and supportive care have been recommended. Despite these concerns, he is becoming more interactive and engaged with people, and staff report that he is handleable and even trying to play.Because of his age and repeated falls, the shelter environment is not an appropriate long-term setting for him and his quality of life is becoming a concern. He urgently needs an experienced adopter, foster, or rescue placement where he can have a quieter environment, limited activity, and the individualized care he needs.
