#MADLoveLuke is STILL looking for his forever home Luke is a stunning 4-year-old Malinois mix, located NW of Chicago, whose journey with MAD began in May 2025—almost a full year ago. He was surrendered to Animal Control with a broken knee, a damaged heart, and a stifled spirit. Thanks to a staff member who saw something special in him, he got his second chance.Since then he’s been with a couple fosters (through no fault of his) and had knee surgery. Since October, he has been in recovery mode with his current foster and boy, has he come a long way….we’re talking cross-country long way. Over the last year, we’ve gotten to know Luke and want to share what we’ve learned. He LOOOOOVES the outdoors….unless of course it’s raining, he hates the rain. He hates it so much that he’s been known to have an accident in his crate rather than face the falling death drops. Other than that, he’s good about going outside and alerting when he needs to use the restroom.Because of whatever happened to him before us, he needs slow intros. Translation: intros must be done at his pace, especially when it’s a transition. He has shown some reactivity to new people. He’s not aggressive, just afraid. That…
