Hi there... I'm Dixie. I'm quite literally the best girl, according to the staff and volunteers here at the rescue. About me: I LOVE the water—I could swim all day! I'm fully potty and house trained, and I'll even let you know when I need to go outside by crying at the door. I walk nicely on a leash and absolutely love playing fetch (at least until my age catches up with me. I know my name, and have excellent recall. I seem to do okay with larger dogs, but smaller dogs I do not like. I am a quiet, gentle soul looking for a forever home to call my own. While I may be a little older, I still enjoy playing with my toys and spending time with other dogs when the mood strikes. My journey here has been quite the adventure. During a big storm, the local fire department found me in the water and brought me to the rescue. They later realized they had actually been trying to catch me for months, believing I was a stray. But it turns out I wasn't always on my own. I once had a loving owner, but after he passed away, I was given away because his mother was no longer able to care for me due to her own health challenges.
