Charlie is with our partner rescue in LA and can come to NJ with an approved foster or adopter For weeks, Charlie roamed the streets with a collar embedded in his neck. Every morning—and sometimes in the middle of the night—he would make his way to the same hotel. He had learned that there, he could get a meal and no one would hurt him. But Charlie wouldn’t let anyone get close enough to touch him. One of the hotel employees finally turned to Facebook and begged for someone to help him. For his first 24 hours st the vet, he was **frozen in fear**. And then something changed. Charlie realized he was safe. ❤️ And slowly, this sweet, silly boy started showing everyone who he really is. One of the vet techs has been taking Charlie home with her at night, and we’re getting to know the dog underneath all that fear. In less than a week, we have learned Charlie LOVES head scratches—but sometimes, when a hand reaches toward his head, he still flinches like he’s bracing himself for what might happen. Then he realizes he’s safe…and comes right back for more. He follows right behind you, walking on your heels and randomly booping the backs of your knees with his cold little nose. He likes…
