From Brooklyn Animal Action

Prissy has been through A LOT. Her “family” got her at a bodega as a kitten but quickly gave her to a family member who didn’t want her. They viewed her as an inconvenience and did the absolute minimum to care for her. She never went to the vet. She had inconsistent food and water. When her “caretaker” got older, the family decided it was time for Prissy to go. They were ready to put her outside (she’d never been outside in her life). Someone got in touch with us and we rushed over and got her. She’s supposedly 9-11 years old. We think she’s younger than that, but she’s not a baby. She’s spent her life unwanted. When she came to us, she was (rightfully) mad at the world. We had to keep her in a crate to try to get her settled down, and she hissed and swatted and lunged at us. But we saw glimmers of the real Prissy: she’d roll over on her back and show us her belly. She started letting us pet her a little. Finally, we had some cats move out and were able to move her into her own room. Prissy was all over the map—she loved to play and accepted pets while eating but she was still swatting at us. Finally, she got into a scuffle with one of our resident cats and had a cut on her ear…
