APRIL 2026 PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION BELOW. IT WILL ANSWER ALL YOUR QUESTIONS. If you still have questions after, we are happy to respond through email. It is a long read and a long adoption process. Please understand we are ensuring that our babies go to great homes and we don't know you personally (yet). Understand that this is an adoption of a beautiful little soul that deserves the absolute best life. The average lifespan of a cat is 13 to 20 years. Some cats even live into their thirties, although this is far less common. So don't let that discourage you from adopting an adult cat! Rescue Mama has had 3 live into their 20's. One was 8 weeks old. PEPPER and LEO have had a rough life already. They were from a Lawndale colony of outdoor cats. The people are super nice. The trapper TNR’D 6 cats that were all adults. PEPPER and LEO were too small to return. They deserved a chance to be adopted. And the fact that they had 3 older siblings that were killed by the neighbors running them over was the reason we saved them. Meet PEPPER, a charming Black Calico from sunny Lawndale, California, who knows how to make an entrance! This delightful little lady is a swirl…

How adopting PEPPER works

Workin' Whiskers decides every adoption: its application, its fee, its home check and its timing. Everybarn only shows this animal on the rescue's behalf, takes no payment and passes no messages.
