Hi, I’m Elwood. I’m a 9-year-old grey tabby, and if I could tell you everything I’ve been through, I would. But some parts of my story will probably always be a mystery. I was found wandering the streets by a police officer. No one knows how long I had been out there on my own or what I experienced while trying to survive. When my owner was eventually contacted, they didn’t want me back. So, once again, I found myself without a home and surrounded by people I didn’t know. At first, everyone wondered if I had become feral. I was scared, unsure, and didn't know whether humans could be trusted anymore. And honestly? It took me a while. A lot of patience, a lot of love, and even more grace. But little by little, I started remembering what kindness felt like I learned that hands can be gentle. I learned what pets and affection feel like again. I learned that I don't always have to be afraid. I've even shown everyone what a gentle boy I can be around children. Underneath all those years and all those unknowns is a sweet, loving cat who just needed someone to give him the time to feel safe again.
