Meet Duke: A Tiny Orange Dictator With BoundariesDuke is a young orange cat with strong opinions, a low tolerance for nonsense, and absolutely no interest in pretending to be someone he isn’t.Pulled from DAS after coming from a hoarding situation, Duke was placed at the shelter for safekeeping during an investigation. The shelter environment was not his time to shine. He did not flourish there, and he made his feelings about handling very clear—especially when it came time to get into a carrier. “Cooperative” would not be an accurate word.Duke enjoys being stroked with the direction of his fur. Against the grain? Absolutely not. Scratching is generally forbidden, with perhaps a brief exception around the ears—but even there, your access is limited. Weirdly, belly rubs are sometimes acceptable, because Duke is apparently committed to keeping everyone slightly confused. When he has decided the interaction is over, he may conclude it with a modest bite. He also occasionally delivers a nail-free skippity bap as a reminder that personal space is not optional. He naps with his eyes open, sometimes with the tip of his tongue sticking out, because apparently even sleeping must be done…
