JUNE 2026 PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION BELOW. IT WILL ANSWER ALL YOUR QUESTIONS. If you still have questions after, we are happy to respond through email. It is a long read and a long adoption process. Please understand we are ensuring that our babies go to great homes and we don't know you personally (yet). Understand that this is an adoption of a beautiful little soul that deserves the absolute best life. The average lifespan of a cat is 13 to 20 years. Some cats even live into their thirties, although this is far less common. So don't let that discourage you from adopting an adult cat! Rescue Mama has had 3 live into their 20's. One was 8 weeks old. COLTON, his mom (BETTI BOOPERS) and her 3 siblings (LYNX, BEBE & TIGGER) were living in a bad hoarding situation in Bakersfield, California. They were living off a dangerous street and people were actually poisoning the cats there. A group of rescuers helped all the cats involved and called us to take these babies. These poor guys were so skinny, dirty and scared. And when COLTON came to our rescue, we discovered he was very social. COLTON is a sweet boy. He has found toys and likes to play. He loves ear and belly…

In the rescue's own words, as they published it.

How adopting COLTON works

Workin' Whiskers decides every adoption: its application, its fee, its home check and its timing. Everybarn only shows this animal on the rescue's behalf, takes no payment and passes no messages.
