AUGUST 2026 PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION BELOW. IT WILL ANSWER ALL YOUR QUESTIONS. If you still have questions after, we are happy to respond through email. It is a long read and a long adoption process. Please understand we are ensuring that our babies go to great homes and we don't know you personally (yet). Understand that this is an adoption of a beautiful little soul that deserves the absolute best life. The average lifespan of a cat is 13 to 20 years. Some cats even live into their thirties, although this is far less common. So don't let that discourage you from adopting an adult cat! Rescue Mama has had 3 live into their 20's. One was 8 weeks old. CARMILLA and her siblings (ALLUCARD - ATREUS - ISAAC) were turned into the shelter. We have no real idea what their life was before coming to the rescue. She was hissy and dirty! So CARMILLA and ISAAC were adopted together back in 2021 as small kittens. To their dismay, they were returned to us in 2026. It was no fault of their own. The woman decided she was moving back home and couldn't take her cats. CARMILLA is a beautiful calico with a gentle soul and a heart full of love. She may be a little shy when meeting…

In the rescue's own words, as they published it.

How adopting CARMILLA works

Workin' Whiskers decides every adoption: its application, its fee, its home check and its timing. Everybarn only shows this animal on the rescue's behalf, takes no payment and passes no messages.
