Is a ball python a good first snake?
Yes, the classic one: docile, slow-moving, and forgiving to handle. The catch is up-front, not ongoing: the enclosure, heat gradient, and humidity need to be right on day one.
What should a ball python cost?
Almost entirely a genetics question. Normals run under $200, and proven morphs cost more. Any price above normal should come with genetics documented in the listing's Papers, not asserted in the description.
Why did it stop eating?
Ball pythons fast, sometimes for months, especially in winter, and it's usually normal. That's why a dated feeding log matters more than any single meal: buy from sellers who can show one.
